The Vision of FLC

     The writer of Proverbs wrote, "Where there is no vision the people perish" (29:18). God has a plan for Family Life Center, a vision that is both in the process of being fulfilled, and yet not completely fulfilled.  He has something that he wants to accomplish in and through us, something that will impact Mukilteo, the greater Snohomish County area, and the world abroad. We must begin to live our lives with a sense of destiny and purpose and make ourselves available for God to use to accomplish His purpose. This is the vision for the ministry that God has called us to.

It's a vision of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with hundreds and thousands of people in Mukilteo and the surrounding communities. Just as a lighthouse shines forth it's light providing hope and direction to a sailor approaching danger, Jesus provides hope and direction to those who are in danger spiritually, due to sin. Our vision is that the light of Jesus would shine through us in our homes, neighborhoods, businesses, schools, and wherever God would lead us. As a result, many will turn to Jesus, and Mukilteo and the greater Snohomish County area will be changed. 

 

It's a vision of a church where people have a strong sense of belonging. We envision Family Life Center as a place where people feel they are part of a family. A church where people are reaching out to one another in genuine love and friendship. A church where people are being encouraged in their faith and growing in the Lord together as a church family. 

 

It's a vision of developing people into spiritually mature Christians who are both Spirit-filled and Biblically literate. In order for a person to rise to their full potential in Christ, they need to be strong in both the Word and the Spirit. The Word of God and the Holy Spirit work together to provide the strength and guidance we need to live lives that are transformed by His grace and victorious over anything we may face in life. 

 

It's a vision of equipping believers for ministry. God wants every believer to be equipped to function in their role as a member of the body of Christ. Each person is uniquely gifted by God and vital to the overall ministry of the church. As people begin to make themselves available to God and offer their time, talent and treasure for the work of the Lord, they will become fulfilled members of the church body. 

 

It's a vision of a church where God is revealing His power and glory to us and through us. God reveals His power and glory to those who are hungry for more of Him. Our vision for Family Life Center is that we would be a church that is hungry for God, filled with His power, and seeing His glory! God then wants us to take what we have received from Him and share it with the world. As Jesus said to His disciples, "Freely you have received, freely give." (Mat. 10:8b)

          Putting a vision that is in your heart down on paper is a very difficult thing to do, but it's something that is necessary. In Habakkuk 2:2 God told Habakkuk the prophet, "Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it." We have written down the vision that God has given us for Family Life Center so that you can catch it and run with it. This vision may be challenging, but it will become a reality because with God all things are possible! As we run together with the vision and do our part in helping fulfill it, God will do His part and provide all that we need in order to see it come to fruition. To God be the glory!
